PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo Battle Creek International Airport is one of 14 markets that will be temporarily losing American Airlines later this year.
On Thursday, officials with the airline announced that they will be adjusting their October schedule and removing service to airports that have had low demand.
Those airports are:
- Del Rio, Texas
- Dubuque, Iowa
- Florence, S.C.
- Greenville, N.C.
- Huntington, W. Va
- Joplin, Mo.
- Kalamazoo/Battle Creek, MI
- Lake Charles, La.
- New Haven, Conn.
- New Windsor, N.Y.
- Roswell, N.M.
- Sioux City, Iowa
- Springfield, Ill.
- Stillwater, Okla.
- Williamsport, Pa.
The suspensions will go into effect on October 7th and will run through November 3rd. The service removal is also due to the expiration of the air service requirements associated with the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act, or CARES Act.
According to American Airlines, this is the first step as they continue to evaluate their network and plans for additional schedule changes in the coming weeks.
The full, updated October schedule will be released on August 29th.
